Cropland

40% of all ice-free land on Earth already is devoted to growing our crops and raising our livestock.  All cropland on Earth collectively occupies an area comparable to the surface area of South America. (All pastureland on Earth collectively occupies an area comparable to the surface area of Africa which is about twice the size of South America.)
